About the event
Diane Esmond was born in London and raised in Paris. She studied painting with the French artist Edouard MacAvoy in the 1930s. In 1940, she moved to New York, where she lived until 1952, at which time she returned to live in or near Paris for the rest of her life. Diane Esmond worked in the tradition of French impressionist and post-impressionist painters.
Her major subjects were landscapes, interiors, and still-lifes. Her landscapes were inspired notably by the Provençal countryside and by the Caribbean tropical forest. These and other subjects, as well as related semi-abstract representations, were conveyed by her in oils, in gouaches, and in ink drawings.
A selection of these works will be on display at Thalia Tringo Real Estate from February 24 - May 31, 2025, with an opening reception on March 6 from 5pm-7pm.
